Their Dynamic Braking Resistor (DBR) line is engineered for superior performance—robust, durable, and designed to handle high-energy dissipation in VFD‑based motor systems.

What is a Dynamic Braking Resistor?

A Dynamic Braking Resistor—also called a rheostatic braking resistor—is a high-wattage resistor connected across a motor’s DC bus during braking.

When an electric motor switches to generator mode during deceleration, the resistor absorbs and dissipates the excess energy as heat

This approach ensures:

Quick, controlled stopping
Reduced wear on mechanical braking systems
Prevents overvoltage trips in drives

How It Works (Work of Dynamic Braking Resistor):

Upon braking, the VFD routes generated energy from the motor into the DBR.
Motor’s kinetic energy converts to electrical energy, raising the DC bus voltage.
The DBR safely dissipates this energy as heat, enabling rapid deceleration.
Proper resistor sizing (resistance value + power rating) avoids overheating and ensures efficient thermal performance.

Features of Our Dynamic Braking Resistors:

Cranes and Hoists

FAQs:

Q1. What power rating is right for my VFD?
Choose based on braking energy and duty cycle. Continuous or peak wattage must match the VFD’s braking profile

Q2. Can it prevent overvoltage trips?
Yes—the resistor absorbs excess DC link voltage during braking, preventing drive faults

Q3. What enclosures are available?
Options include aluminium heat-sink style or galvanized/stainless steel housings, rated IP20 and above, with natural or forced-air cooling

Q4. Do DBRs require maintenance?
No moving parts—they are virtually maintenance-free. Periodic dusting and enclosure checks are recommended.

Q5. Can Khushi integrate DBR into existing panels?
Absolutely—our engineering team handles end-to-end integration, ensuring optimal sizing, wiring, and safety protocols.
